Lara Pietersen

UX Analyst & Lover of Magic

In March of 2016 the Cape Town QuirkStation gained a wonderful UX Analyst in Lara Pietersen. Lara studied a BSc in Information Technology at UCT, specialising in Computer Science and Psychology. After varsity, she worked on some Twitter products and became mom to her furkids.

Lala-la has 5 cats and all of them have names starting with an ‘M’! Midnite (he’s black – duh), Majik (who’s fluffy), Merlyn (with his long tail), Melisante (who has a crackly meow), and Moontale (who’s got a monkey on his back). She also has a wonderful little boy named Jesse, and you’ll likely find her showing off his latest creations to her colleagues every other day.

Growing up, Lara had posters of wizards, dragons and dolphins on her walls. She loves all things sci-fi and fantasy, and her friends would describe her as intelligent, strong-willed, and intuitive with a dash of inner magic. It’s no wonder then that they compare her to Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony.

She decided to join Quirk because “apparently all the nice people are here” – and luckily, they are! We love having this imaginative human being around, and look forward to hearing her play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the violin for us someday… wink, wink.

“Human beings make life so interesting. Do you know that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to invent boredom?” ~ Death (Hogfather, 2006, Terry Pratchett)
